The newly formed Aam Aadmi Party has received donation worth Rs 1,30,67,707 between November and January 31, the party has said.

The donations have come from citizens through cash and cheque and through cards but the bulk of it - Rs 1 crore - has been given by a single donor Shanti Bhushan.

The 1,300 odd  donors who gave in cash and cheques included Madhu Bhadhuri who gave Rs 5,00,000, Kumar Bajaj Bagam Lalitha, Radhe Shyam Gupta and Rajnish Verma who gave Rs 1,00,000 each.

It included Rs 1,80,315 collected from participants of a public rally at Jantar Mantar in November.

About 500 odd donations were received through debit and credit cards.

In an appeal to the public today arvind kejriwal convenor of the party who has been on a fast for the last ten days said that the party was not formed to win power but to hand over power to the people and hence sought their "time and money in this mission as we are all working towards a common cause".

"Most parties are funded by big corporates for something in return but this will not happen in Aam Aadmi Party. This party would be funded by Aam Aadmi and Aam Aurat of this country. That would be the beginning of an honest and transparent politics, unfortunately which runs on black money today," he said.

"Whatever amount you contribute—small or big—is not important. Every paisa matters because it is honest, and will go a long way in redefining the politics. In the interest of financial transparency, we publish the names of all the donors every week on our website," he said.
