After two days, heavy overnight rains lash Chennai

Rain intensity has gone down a notch in Chennai over the last couple of days but the city faced a proper downpour last night. BBC Weather forecasted said the city will witness heavy rain with thunderstorm on Wednesday. MET officials have however ruled out such heavy rains in the city.

Meanwhile, rehabalitation and cleaning up exercises continue in the city, which has reported the heaviest rainfall in the last 100 years.

Schools and colleges have remain closed for over a month now. Offices and factories resumed work only since day before and that too partially as many workers could not report to work.
 

IT companies have given flexibilty for employees to work from home or from centres which are near to Chennai.

Meanwhile, heavy rain contiunes in delta and coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Tuticorin, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore, Nellai and many parts of the state. Over 50,000 acres are hit by flood in delta region.

Met forecast is that another one week the rain will continue.
