Major airline companies are working on the plan to trap the passengers plying to tier two cities from Chhattisgarh by train. The companies had sought statistical support from the Chhattisgarh government to proceed with the plan. The issue came up during a close-door meeting of the aviation companies' representatives with the state government officials.
The meeting was part of Confederation of Indian Industry's Eastern regional conference held here Saturday. "The airline companies want the state government to provide the data related to number of passengers plying to tier two cities by train," a senior state government official present in the meeting said. The state officials however did not make any commitment to the companies in this connection, he added.
The Chhattisgarh government officials insisted for more air connectivity in the state that had been fast emerging as a destination for the tourists and investors. The industry department officials also gave presentation.
