Andhra Pradesh chief secretary P K Mohanty today constituted a high-level panel comprising senior officials to prepare a blueprint for the execution of the division of the state according to the appointed day, which is expected to be announced soon.

The committee will ready the actionable plans in terms of division of assets, finances, and the personnel among other things and also suggest  reorganisation of government departments wherever necessary, according to the officials. This exercise will be further scrutinised by the central committees, which would be constituted to oversee the division.

The chief secretary, who held a meeting with major department heads in this regard, also sought the opinion of the officials on the time required for completing the division process. “Most of the officers told the chief secretary that it would take at least three months to complete the process,” a senior official told Business Standard.

The chief secretary is leaving for Delhi on Wednesday to share the feedback with the home ministry officials. This feedback would be crucial for fixing the appointed date by President Pranab Mukherjee. It will also mark an end of a deadline from when the two regions of Telangana and residual AP will start functioning as two separate states.

Also the countdown for the government machinery to execute the state division will start from the day the President issues the Gazette notification, which would also contain the appointed date.

The notification is expected to come before  the election schedule while March 5 is rumoured to be the announcement of the election schedule.
