AP to give Unitech land to IT companies

The govt will take possession of 1,400 acre land given to Unitech in Visakhapatnam in the past to allot the same to IT companies among other industries

BS Reporter Hyderabad
The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday said it would take possession of 1,400 acre land given to Unitech in Visakhapatnam in the past to allot the same to IT companies among other industries.

The land was given to the real estate company in 2008 for the development of ‘Knowledge City’ when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was chief minister. However, the  project remained a non-starter as the company could not pay the  land cost. In 2011, the Kiran Kumar Reddy government had scrapped the project.

State Information and public relations minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said a decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting held at coastal town of Rajahmundry on Wednesday.
