Apollo Hospitals forms JV with NSDC to launch training academy

Apollo Hospitals today signed a MoU with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch a training academy. The MoU was signed in Chennai today between Apollo Medskills, the skilling arm of Apollo Hospital Group and NSDC.

It may be noted, NSDC picked up a 26% stake in Apollo Medskills for equity of Rs 3.5 crore. Besides giving softloan of Rs 24 crore.

The first academy will be at Anna Nagar, Chennai. The project includes a training programme that will combine a class room and practical/ fieldwork based methodology to introduce the selected candidates to the functions of hospital and provide them the necessary skill-sets thus eventually helping in finding jobs in its hospitals and other healthcare centres.

 

The project kick started in Chennai with 1,150 candidates, identified by Apollo Medskills. The roll-out of the programme in a phased manner with the addition of 47 centres to train four lakh health care professionals. The target population includes middle Eincome and lower middle income group to provide gainful employment.

In the first year of operations, in addition to Chennai, the company will have centres in Hyderabad, Shillong and Patna. The JV partners are expected to train more than four lakh healthcare professionals in ten years.

The centre will have 27 courses such as medical lab tecnology, dialysis and non-invasive cardiac courses, radiology and imaging and operation theatre technology for up skilling doctors and nurses and skilling parameds and support staff.
