On the run for 58 days, Narayan Sai, the son of spiritual leader Asaram Bapu, has been arrested along with four accomplices from a Haryana village and will be produced at the Rohini Court in the national capital at 2 p.m., a police officer said Wednesday.
"Our team got the tip off that Narayan Sai was on the move from Punjab to Haryana. The team laid the trap and so he was arrested from Pipli village near Kurukshetra (in Haryana).
"Narayan Sai, who has been accused of sexual assault, will be produced in the Rohini Court at 2 p.m.," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav told IANS.
The four others arrested with Narayan Sai are Hanuman, driver Ramesh, Vishnu and Bhavika.
Hanuman, who has also been named in the FIR along with Narayan Sai, carries a reward of Rs.1 lakh, while there was a reward of Rs.5 lakh on Narayan Sai.
Sai was on the run after a complaint was filed by a 30-year-old woman who alleged that he raped her between 2001 and 2005.
Two sisters, who lived in Surat, filed rape complaints against Asaram Bapu and Narayan Sai at different police stations in Gujarat. They alleged they were raped by the duo during their stay in the ashram in the mid-2000s.
