Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot said that Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev was “satisfied” with the initiatives taken by Narendra Modi government to bring back the black money stacked in banks abroad.
Baba Ramdev, who spilled out the black money issue in open, had earlier expressed his displeasure over the steps taken by the Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government to bring back black money. The issue had been a major poll plank in 2014 that drove Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power.
“We have informed Baba Ramdev about the initiatives being taken on the issue and he has expressed satisfaction,” Gehlot said. The Union Minister was briefing reporters here today to highlight the achievements of NDA government’s two years in office.
He added that the government had intensified the move to bring back the black money. It was also taking necessary measures to eradicate the problem from the root by enforcing stringent norms to check the flow of black money abroad. “The government had been taking initiative to plug the system that resulted in corruption,” Gehlot added.
Referring to the issue of planning prohibition of liquor at the national level, the union minister for social justice said the NDA government had not thought on the line as of now. “The government had launched a massive campaign to aware people and advice them to quit liquor,” he added.
Many states in the country had imposed a ban on liquor and other states would also think over if the situation arose, the minister said.
