The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it would not back any move by PA Sangma, the candidate it backed in the Presidential race, to challenge pranab Mukherjee’s election.
Senior BJP leaders are of the opinion that Mukherjee has won the election and there is no point in pursuing a legal battle against him. A section of the BJP leaders were initially not in favour of supporting Sangma and wanted to let Mukherjee win the election unopposed, but senior leaders L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj stepped in and after consultations, the party decided to back him.
