Books of poems, essays by Mamata released in book fair

The essays talk about the different stages of her life and political struggles

Three books of poems and collection of essays by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were released today.

At the inauguration of the 38th Kolkata Book Fair, two volumes of Sera Mamata was released. One of them is a collection of poems while the other one has a compilation of old essays penned by her.

The essays talk about the different stages of her life and political struggles.

Two other books Kothay Kothay and Pothe Sathi were also released by eminent painter Jogen Choudhury.

Banerjee said despite digitisation of content, the old world charm of pen and paper have not lost relevance.
 
She said she still loved to write using her pen. "The joy is still there for me. Although it may not be the case for others," she said, adding that tradition and heritage are not lost and keep coming back wherever we go. She said although movies can be seen on television those who love cinema still go to theatres.

Claiming Kolkata Book Fair to be one of the best in the world, she said it has the 'A to Z' of books from other countries, even the districts of Bengal.

With Peru as the theme country, the book fair will go on till February 9.
