Brain dead youth gives new lease of life to five persons

A 22-year-old youth from Mumbai, who was declared brain dead in city's N M Virani Wockhardt hospital gave a new lease of life to five persons as his two eyes, two kidneys and a liver were donated to them.

"Five persons got new lease of life as two kidneys, two eyes (corneas) and the liver of Lomesh Patel of Mumbai were given to them," Manhar Majithiya, media manager of the hospital.

Lomesh Patel, resident of Powai area of Mumbai, had come to Gandhidham town in Kutch district to attend a family function when met with an accident on April 19.
 
"Lomesh sustained severe injury in his brain and was brought to our hospital on April 25 after being given primary treatment at Gandhidham hospital," Majithiya said.
