BSNL contributes Rs 18 cr for Uttarakhand relief works

BSNL has announced to contribute one day's salary of all its employees in PMNRF

State-run telecom firm BSNL today announced it will contribute one day's salary of its employees amounting to Rs 18 crore in Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for victims of the Uttrakhand calamity.

"BSNL has announced today to contribute Rs 18 crore, one day's salary of all its employees, in Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) as a relief to victims of recent natural disaster in Uttrakhand," the company said in a statement.

The company on Sunday launched helpline numbers -- 1503 and 09412024365 -- to know last location of their friends and relatives using BSNL mobile connection in flood-hit areas.
 
The company has started free communication services at all major relief centers, currently operational at Badrinath, Joshimath, Gaurikund, Gochar, Bakot, Uttarkashi, New Tehri, Dharchula and helipads of Jollygrant and Sahstradhara.
