Cabinet likely to clear Jaipur metro project

The project will link Mansarovar to Chaupal areas in the city

The Union cabinet is likely to approve a metro project in the Jaipur city this week.

The project will link Mansarovar to Chaupal areas in the city. The total length of the first phase of the project is estimated to be aroudn 9.5 kilometers.

The total project cost of all the phases is estimated to be around Rs 7,500 crore, while the stretch from Mansarovar to Chaupal in the first phase is expected to cost Rs 507 crore. The project will be jointly funded by Centre and the state government.

Though Rajasthan is a poll-bound  state, the model code of conduct might not come into play since Prime Minister Manmohan  Singh has already inaugurated the project.
