CBI not allowing me to meet family members, complains Madan Mitra

Says the agency is allowing me to see them only from a distance

Press Trust Of India
West Bengal minister Madan Mitra, who is currently in CBI custody in connection with the Saradha scam, today complained that he was not being allowed to meet his family members, lawyers or party colleagues.

"I am not being allowed to meet my lawyers, family members, relatives and party colleagues who are coming to meet me. They are sitting for long hours but are not allowed to meet me," Mitra told reporters on his way to police station after questioning by CBI.

"They are allowing me to see them only from a distance," the transport minister said adding he would not be cowed down under any pressure.

After questioning him as a witness in the Saradha scam on Friday, CBI arrested Mitra on the same day. On Saturday, he was remanded to four days' CBI custody till December 16. Mitra was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, misappropriation of funds as well as deriving undue financial benefits from the Saradha Group, a CBI spokesman here said.
