There was chaos at the Churchgate Station in Mumbai on Wednesday after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal decided to take a local train.
Hundreds of supporters gathered at Mumbai's Churchgate Station and reportedly damaged metal detectors set up there in the hope of meeting their party leader.
Kejriwal, who arrived here today on three-day tour of Maharashtra, first took an auto-rickshaw from the domestic terminal of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to board a local train from Santa Cruz to Churchgate, where hundreds of his supporters gathered to welcome him.
In the process of the exuberant welcome, considerable damage of public property was reported. Television reports also said that Kejriwal and his supporters had committed several traffic violations.
On March 13 (Thursday), he will take a flight to Nagpur and campaign in Bhandara and Chandrapur.
On Friday, he will campaign for Anjali Damania, who is contesting from Nagpur against BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. The tour will culminate with a rally in Nagpur.
