Citizens come forward to clean, restore river Nandini

People from all walks of life, including environmentalists and officials, took part in the cleaning drive

A large number of citizens, environmentalists and members of NGOs participated in an operation to cleanse and restore sub-river Nandini, sources said.

People from all walks of life, including environmentalists and officials from Nashik Municipal Corporation and Water Resource Department took part in the cleansing operation on Wednesday with the help of JCB machines, from Nandini's origin point to its merger in river Godavari.

The sub-river Nasardi (Nandini) had almost disappeared in the city since part few years owing to development of urban areas, following which a call was given to restore it.
