Civil aviation ministry to enquire into Chennai airport modernisation

The Chennai airport was refurbished at the cost of Rs 2,015 crore, but there have been numerous complaints

The ministry of civil aviation will constitute a committee to enquire into the shoddy work in modernizing and upgrading the Chennai airport.

A senior official the ministry said, "The maintenance of the new terminal at Chennai airport is bad. The work done for upgrading the airport in patchy and does not meet quality standards set at Delhi or Mumbai. We will constitute a panel to enquire into the project."

The Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju Pusapati will shortly hold a meeting with senior officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to discuss the issue.

The Chennai airport was refurbished at the cost of Rs 2,015 crore, but there have been numerous complaints related to the quality of work and management of operations at the airport.
