Cold wave continues in Himachal

The intense cold wave conditions continued in Himachal Pradesh even as maximum temperatures rose by a few notches across the state for the second consecutive day.

The night temperatures also increased marginally but remained two to three degree below normal.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest in the region with a low of minus 8.6 degree Celsius while Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperature at minus 2.0 deg C, followed by Manali minus 1.0 deg C, Saluni 3.0 deg C, Solan 4.3 deg C, Shimla and Sundernagar 5.6 deg C, Palampur 8.0 deg C, Una and Dharamsala 8.6 deg C and Nahan 8.8 deg C.
 
The weather remained dry across the state but thin clouds overcast the sky as the day advanced.

Una was the hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 23.6 deg C while Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 23.4 deg C and 23.2 deg C, followed by Solan 20.5 deg C and Dharamsala 19.6 deg C, Shimla 16.6 deg C and Kalpa 4.2 deg C.

The local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at a few places tomorrow and warned of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places on February 27 due to a Western Disturbance (WD) as an upper air system hanging over Afghanistan and adjoining North Pakistan.
