Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said he was ready for a probe into allegations of corruption levelled against him, and asked why the Congress was reluctant to enquiry into Robert Vadra’s deals.

“I have not taken land or money from the government nor have I misused my political position. I am ready for an enquiry, but why isn’t the damaad of the Congress party (ready for an enquiry),” he said, in an apparently reference to Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, facing accusations of dubious land deals with DLF.

Speaking at the city airport after he was welcomed by hundreds of party members, Gadkari said: “There are attempts being made to slander me, to destroy my reputation. We are not scared. Eent ka jawab patthar se denge (I know how to give tit for tat).”

The BJP President is under attack for alleged money laundering and corruption, and his connection with the Purti Sugar factory and the shell companies associated with it.

Gadkari rubbished allegations made by Arvind Kejriwal that the BJP chief had business links with the Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar and controversial Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Sancheti. “I have no business links or partnership with them,” he said.

He also said he had not exploited irrigation projects or the interests of farmers in Maharashtra to further business interests — an accusation levelled by activist-turned-politician Kejriwal.
