Commonwealth Games silver medallist Prakash Nanjappa's father express happiness over his son's feat

Star marksman Prakash Nanjappa secured a silver medal to extend India's tally of medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games

P. N. Papanna, father and coach of Indian shooter Prakash Nanjappa, today expressed his happiness over his son securing a silver medal for India at the Commonwealth Games.

"Well it is a double enjoyment, One as his father and one as coach. He was very committed and very hardworking very composed and very talented. That's how I could join him as a coach and I was successful as a coach. And he was successful as an athelete. And my expertise has actually helped him and his talent has enhanced his performance," Papanna told ANI.

When asked whether he gave any special advice before the crucial game, Papanna said: "I have only said well done, go ahead, do well, perform better just that."

 

On being asked about what lies in store ahead for his son after achieving this feat, a proud father and coach said: "There are a lot of games coming up. Asian games is there, he is also selected for that, World Championship is already there. World Cups are coming up. He needs to have the quota reserved for the Olympics, that's how he is preparing himself."

"He is going to fulfill my ambition. No doubt he has made history in Karnataka and making lot of news in national and international level. I am quite confident that he will succeed in his goal and ambition," he added.

Star marksman Prakash Nanjappa secured a silver medal to extend India's tally of medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

The Indian shooter scored 198.2 points finishing at the second point behind Australia's Daniel Repacholli who clinched the top spot with a score of 199.5 points.

Nanjappa shot a series of 97, 96, 95, 99, 97, 96 to top the qualification round with 580 points.

England's Stewart Nangle (578) came second while Daniel Repacholi (574) of Australia took the third spot in the qualification round.
