The Indian Air Force is organising airlifts for residents who need to urgently leave Chennai. Such persons can reach or contact the IAF station at Tambaram, from where the Air Force will arrange for them to be airlifted out via Arakkonam.

The best way to reach the IAF Station is to take a train from Beach Station to Tambaram. To reach the station, MRTS train are the safest mode, as road travel is still difficult. Reaching MRTS, however, is possible.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army is on the ground in Chennai city to help people stuck in the floods.
