India active cases increased to 26,82,751

India’s active Covid-19 cases—people under treatment for the disease--has increased to 26,82,751, comprising 15.82 per cent of total infections. The national recovery rate has stands at 83.05 per cent, said the health ministry on Sunday. The number of people who recuperated has increased to 1,40,85,110. The case fatality rate-- the proportion of people who die from a disease among all individuals diagnosed with the disease over a certain period of time--has dropped to 1.13 per cent.

Delhi hospital gets oxygen

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi says it got 5 tonne of medical oxygen early Sunday . "Oxygen running in full pressure after a long time," a spokesperson of the private hospital told ANI. As many 25 Covid-19 patients died there, said the hospital on Friday as it rejected reports that the casualties were caused by oxygen shortage. "A large number of patients admitted at our hospital are in a very serious condition and that's why the high fatality," an executive told Times of India.

15 feared dead in Baghdad hospital treating Covid-19 patients

A fire broke out in a Baghdad hospital that cares for coronavirus patients after oxygen cylinders reportedly exploded late Saturday, officials said. There were initial reports of 15 people dead, the Associated Press said in a report from Iraq's capital. Jharkhand''death toll rises to 1,778

Jharkhand''s Covid-19 death toll rose to 1,778 as the state reported 63 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, the health department said in a bulletin on Saturday.
Altogether, 5,741 new infections pushed the coronavirus caseload of the state to 1,90,692, PTI reported quoting the bulletin.

Coronavirus cases rising 'like tsunami', says Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court on Saturday asked the central and the Delhi governments about their preparedness to deal with the peak of the second Covid-19 wave expected by mid-May, terming the mounting cases a “tsunami” and warning that it will “hang any person” who tries to obstruct oxygen supplies to hospitals.
