CBSE panel to work out criteria for assessment of class 12 students, submit report in 10 days
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday constituted a 13-member committee to work out an objective criteria for assessment of class 12 students after their board exams were cancelled.
The panel will submit its report within 10 days.
"In view of the uncertain conditions due to Covid and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders, it was decided that class 12 board exams of CBSE will not be held this year. It was also decided that CBSE will take steps to compile the results as per a well defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner," said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.

Village achieves 100% Covid vaccination of those aged 45 and above
Ilaiyankudi, a village in Karaikal district, has achieved 100 per cent vaccination of all those aged 45 and above, according to the District Collector Arjun Sharma.
With this, the village in Tirunallar area of the district has become the first village in the Union Territory of Puducherry to achieve the distinction, he said.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the village, the Collector said the small village has a total of 64 people aged 45 and above and all of them have now been fully vaccinated. He said the people of the village cooperated with the officials of various departments to achieve this. READ MORE...

Delhi HC anguished over shortage of vaccines in India
The Delhi High Court Friday expressed anguish over the way things have transpired in the second wave of COVID-19 where vaccine shortage is hitting everyone even when the Central government says the best way to fight the pandemic is to vaccinate the entire population.
The high court was deliberating with the issue related to manufacturing of COVID vaccine Sputnik V by India's Panacea Biotec in collaboration with Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
The high court directed the Centre to release arbitral award of over Rs 14 crore along with interest from 2012 to Panacea Biotec for manufacturing Sputnik V vaccine in India subject to the condition that the company obtains permission from the government to manufacture the vaccine.

Odisha cancels Class 12 board exams due to Covid-19 situation
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced that board examinations for Class 12 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has been cancelled, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Informing about the decision, Patnaik said, "Students life is more important than exams. Life first, everything else is secondary, as long as life is safe, there will be eternal possibility and society and civilisation will move forward."

Jharkhand reports 10 more Covid-19 deaths, 427 new cases
Jharkhand reported 10 more COVID-19 fatalities pushing the death toll to 5,021 while the coronavirus tally climbed to 3,39,930 as 427 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department bulletin said on Friday.
Ranchi, East Singhbhum and Simdega districts reported two deaths each followed by one death each from Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag and Ramgarh.
Jharkhand now has 7,537 active COVID-19 cases, while 3,27,372 patients have recovered from the virus. Altogether, 86,48,503 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, including 51,125 on Thursday, it added. However, the mortality rate remained at 1.47 per cent, higher than the national average of 1.20 per cent.
