Jharkhand: Covid fatalities nosedive to 13 in last 24 hours
Jharkhand reported 13 Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24-hours, the lowest in a single day in May, pushing the death toll to 4,958, a health department bulletin said on Sunday.
The total active Covid-19 cases in the state plunged to 10,946, it said.
The state had on May 2 registered a high of 159 fatalities due to Covid-19, the highest in a single day in the current month.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has earlier ordered a death audit to be conducted in five districts witnessing high deaths to assess in a transparent manner the ground reality.
The Covid-19 deaths in state capital Ranchi and East Singhbhum which were witnessing high casualties dipped to four and three respectively. (PTI)

Oxygen Express delivers 2114.21 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen to Kerala, Tamil Nadu
The Southern Railway has delivered 2114.21 Metric Tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to Tamil Nadu and Keralathrough 32 'Oxygen Express' trains to help these states tide over the difficulties in supply during the second wave of the pandemic.
Three Oxygen Express trainshave so delivered380.2MT of Oxygen to Kerala, a railway statement said on Saturday. All the three rakes were offloaded at Vallarpadam Container Terminal in Kochi.
The third Oxygen Express, loaded at Rourkela (Odisha) for the Vallarpadam Container Terminal, arrived at the destination on May 27, it said. Meanwhile, as many as 29 loaded Oxygen Express trains have so far delivered 1734.01 MT of LMO to Tamil Nadu.

Bengal records lowest Covid cases in a month
After 15 days of restrictions imposed by the West Bengal government which was coming to an end on Saturday, the state recorded the lowest number of fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, health officials said here on Sunday.
Not only that there has been a sharp decline in the number of daily positive cases and the rate of positivity for the last five days compared to the beginning of the month. This has allowed the government to continue with restrictions for the next 15 days.
"The restrictions imposed by the state government are showing positive results. The number of positive cases has come down and the rate of positivity which was more than 30 per cent in the beginning of the month has come to around 18-19 per cent. So, as the restriction is giving positive results, we have decided to increase it by another 15 days," chief minister Mamata Banerjee said.

50 people have died due to black fungus in Haryana, 650 more receiving treatment: CM
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said 50 people have died due to black fungus in the state so far, while 650 more are undergoing treatment for the infection in various hospitals.
"There have been over 750 cases of black fungus in Haryana so far. Fifty-eight have been cured while 50 people have lost their lives and 650 patients are seeking treatment," Khattar said during a news conference here.
Addressing the conference virtually, he said the government was procuring the injection used in treatment of black fungus while some stock was already available and was being used in government hospitals.
"We have got 6,000 injection vials. Over the next two days, we will get 2,000 vials more while we have placed an order for another 5,000 vials, he said.

Haryana extends lockdown till June 7, eases certain restrictions
The Haryana government on Sunday extended the coronavirus-induced lockdown in the state by another week till June 7, easing restrictions on shop timings which will now be allowed to stay open from 9 am to 3 pm on odd-even days.
The state government termed the lockdown "Mahamari Alert/Surkshit Haryana (Epidemic Alert/Safe Haryana)".
Addressing a virtual press conference, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said even though the COVID-19 situation has improved in the state, it has been decided to extend the "Mahamari Alert/Surkshit Haryana" lockdown till 5 am on June 7 with some more relaxations. He said shops which were earlier allowed to open as per odd-even basis from 7 am to 12 pm will now be open from 9 am to 3 pm.

Bulgaria extends Covid emergency till July end
The Bulgarian government has extended the nationwide Covid-19 pandemic emergency until July 31, the cabinet said in a statement. The epidemic emergency was initially declared on May 14 last year with a duration of one month, replacing the state of emergency implemented on March 13, Xinhua news agency.
It has already been extended several times, with the last extension to the end of May.
"The prolongation of the epidemic situation and the implementation of anti-epidemic measures in the country aim to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on public health and the health care system, taking into account the real risk of the spread of different variants of SARS-CoV-2 in Bulgaria with high infectivity," the statement issued on Saturday said.

In the beginning of Corona, there was only one testing lab in the country, but today, more than 2,500 labs are working. Initially, only a few hundred tests could be conducted in a day, now more than 20 lakh tests are being conducted in a day: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing the nation through his monthly radio broadcast 'Mann Ki Baat'.
