Bangladesh COVID-19 deaths exceed 22,000-mark

Bangladesh reported 12,606 new COVID-19 cases and 248 new deaths on Friday, taking the national tally to 1,335,260 and the death toll to 22,150, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
 
The official data showed that 48,015 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Friday across Bangladesh.
 
The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 1,172,437 including 15,494 new recoveries on Friday, said the DGHS.

Britain's Covid-19 cases top 6 million

More than 6 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Britain since the start of the pandemic, according to official figures released on Friday. The country reported another 31,808 coronavirus cases in the latest 24-hour period, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 6,014,023.
 
Britain also recorded another 92 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 130,178. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test, Xinhua news agency reported.

Tokyo reports 4,515 new cases amid Summer Olympics 2020

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Friday reported 4,515 new COVID-19 cases while additional 29 people associated with Summer Olympics 2020 were also tested positive.
 
The figure in Tokyo was the second-highest for the capital, which reported a record 5,042 cases on Thursday, Kyodo News reported.

50 per cent Americans are fully vaccinated, say White House officials

White House COVID-19 Data Director Cyrus Shahpar on Friday informed that 50 per cent of Americans are now fully vaccinated.
 
More than 8,21,000 doses have also been administered in the US including 5,65,000 newly vaccinated people, Shahpar said in a tweet.
 
"Seven day average of newly vaccinated is up 11 per cent from last week and 44 per cent over past 2 weeks. 50 per cent of Americans (all ages) are now fully vaccinated. Keep going US," he tweeted.

Assam reports 975 new COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths

With 0.85 per cent positivity rate for the day, Assam reported 975 fresh COVID cases on Friday.
 
14 deaths were also reported in the state.
 
With this, the active caseload in the state stands at 10,372, while the total death toll was reported to be 5,357, as per the Assam health bulletin.

Africa's Covid cases surpass 6.9 million

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Africa reached 6,906,055 as of Friday afternoon, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.
 
The Africa CDC, the specialized healthcare agency of the African Union, said the death toll from the pandemic stands at 174,838 while 6,047,230 patients across the continent have recovered from the disease, Xinhua news agency reported.

Number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Argentina surpasses 5 mn

he number of people, who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Argentina, has increased by 13,549 within the past 24 hours and surpassed 5 million, the national Ministry of Health said.
 
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Argentina stands at 5,002,951.
