India reports 211,298 Covid-19 cases, 3,847 deaths in last 24 hours
India's COVID-19 infection tally climbed to 2,73,69,093 as 2,11,298 more people tested positive for the disease in a day, while the country's recovery was recorded at 90 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.
The death toll due to the disease climbed to 3,15,235 with 3,847 fresh fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Also, 21,57,857 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday, taking the total number of such exams done so far in the country to 33,69,69,353. Read on...

Delhi's Covaxin stock over for 45+ age group, Covishield left for 12 days
The Delhi government has exhausted its Covaxin stock for people over 45 years while that of Covishield will last only 12 days, AAP MLA Atishi said on Wednesday.
So, this means that those awaiting their second dose of Covaxin in Delhi are in a situation wherein they may be wondering if their first dose will go to waste, she said.

Karnataka to have new discharge policy for patients, post-Covid precautions
Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Wednesday said the state will have a new Covid-19 discharge policy and post-Covid precautions in view of the rising cases of Black Fungus infection.
Speaking to media after holding a meeting with experts on containment of Black Fungus infection, Dr Sudhakar said, "It has been decided to formulate a new discharge policy and post-Covid precautions for patients who have recovered from Covid-19 infection."
"There is more clarity now after meeting with the experts. It has been found that administering steroids in the first week of treatment of Covid-19 is one of the main causes of Black Fungus infection. We need to avoid this and steroids should be administered only from the second week," the Minister added. Read on...

Covid-negative report must for Singapore citizens returning to country
Singaporeans and permanent residents (PRs) will be required to present a valid negative Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test report, obtained within 72 hours prior to their departure for Singapore, starting from 11.59 pm on May 29 (Saturday), local media reported on Thursday.
All Singaporeans and permanent residents will only be allowed to board their flights to Singapore on presenting negative test results before departure, except for those who have stayed in lower-risk countries and regions in the last 21 days, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said on Wednesday night.Read on....

Seeking a fast-track approval for its COVID-19 vaccine, US major Pfizer has told Indian authorities that its jab has shown "high effectiveness" against the SARS-CoV-2 variant prevalent in India and on people of Indian ethnicity or nationality, while it is suitable for everyone aged 12 years or above and can be stored for a month at 2-8 degrees, sources said on Wednesday.
Pfizer, which is ready to offer 5 crore doses to India between July and October this year and has sought certain relaxations including indemnification, has held a series of interactions with the Indian government authorities recently including one this week, during which it shared the most recent data points regarding efficacy trials and approvals for its vaccine in various countries and by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Maharashtra clocks over 24,000 Covid cases, 453 deaths in 24 hrs
Maharashtra registered 24,752 new coronavirus cases and 453 deaths in a span of 24 hours. A total of 23,065 Covid-19 patients were discharged at the same time.

Priyanka Gandhi slams Centre for suppressing data on Covid-related deaths
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the Central government alleging that it worked harder on suppressing this data than it did in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Putting out a report titled on Twitter, Gandhi said: "We will never know the true number of Covid-related deaths as the government has worked harder on suppressing this data than they did fighting the pandemic."
The daily Covid-19 positivity rate in India has reduced and now stands at 9.42 per cent, while the recoveries continue to outnumber the new cases for the 13th consecutive day, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. Read on...
