Outgoing calls at Bhubaneswar's 24X7 Covid call centre cross 100,000 mark

The outgoing calls at Bhubaneswar's 1929 24X7 Covid call centre, set up by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) crossed the 1 lakh mark, while the call centre received 88,658 incoming calls till June 13.
 
According to a press release, the call centre set up at the Bhubaneswar Operations Centre (BOC) of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) office, had made 1,06,326 outgoing calls.
 
While the outgoing calls were mainly to home isolation patients to find out their health-care status, they also included 2,312 outgoing calls to Red Flag patients. The idea behind categorizing home isolation patients into Red Flag and Green Flag cases is to monitor moderately ill and patients with mild Covid symptoms. Each Reg Flag patient gets a call from the call centre for three consecutive days along with frequent RRT visits to his/her homes. (ANI)

DATA STORY: India's active cases drop below 100,000

India on Monday reported a net reduction of 53,001 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 973,158. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 8.01 per cent (one in 12). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Sunday, it added 70,421 cases to take its total caseload to 29,510,410. And, with 3,921 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 374,305, or 1.27 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 1,499,771 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Sunday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 254,849,301. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 28,162,947 – or 95.43 per cent of total caseload – with 119,501 new cured cases being reported on Saturday. Read here

Manish Sisodia reviews facilities at Delhi's vaccination centre for international travellers

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday visited the Navyug School, Mandir Marg in the national capital to inspect the dedicated Covid-19 vaccination centre established by the Delhi government for international travellers. The facility is available to those who need to undertake international travel in the period up to August 31, 2021.
 
Sisodia visited the school and interacted with the people who wish to travel abroad for work, study or sports and came to take the vaccine jab.
 
According to the directives released by the government, the centre has been set up for students who need to travel abroad for their education, those who need to 'take up jobs in foreign countries, and athletes and accompanying staff of the Indian contingent to the Tokyo Olympics. (ANI)

India Coronavirus Dispatch: Country sees lowest number of cases in 74 days

India reported 70,421 fresh coronavirus infections on Monday, taking the cumulative caseload to 29.5 million, according to central health ministry data. The country saw 3,921 deaths due to the pandemic, taking the death toll to 374,305. The active caseload is at 973,158, while the total recoveries have surged to 28.2 million. As many as 254.8 million vaccine shots have been administered since the nationwide inoculation programme kicked off on January 16. Of these, 1.5 million were given on Sunday. Read more

Odisha reports 4,339 new cases, 44 more deaths

Odisha reported 4,339 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, taking the tally to 8,56,121, a Health Department official said.
 
Forty-four more people died in the state, pushing the toll to 3,346, he said.
 
In the last 24 hours, 7,733 people recovered. So far, 7,96,799 patients have recovered in the state. (PTI)

61 people arrested from Noida pool party for Covid norms violation

The Noida Police has arrested 61 people, including 15 women, for allegedly partying at a farmhouse here in violation of restrictions imposed to combat Covid-19, officials said on Monday.
 
The arrests were made following a raid on the property in Sector 135, under the Expressway police station limits, on Sunday night, they said.
 
A pool party was being held at the Green Beauty farmhouse in the Yamuna floodplains area in Sector 135 in violation of the Covid-19 protocols. A total of 46 men and 15 women were arrested, a police spokesperson said. (PTI)
