Uttarakhand govt extends coronavirus restrictions till June 22

The Uttarakhand government on Monday extended the Covid-19 curfew in the hill state by one more week to June 22.
 
State minister Subodh Uniyal said that old guidelines will remain in place but with some minor changes.
 
In an important relaxation, the residents of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi have been permitted to visit the Char Dham sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri-Yamunotri, respectively. For this, a negative report of RTPCR was made mandatory. Read here

Bangladesh records highest single-day Covid deaths in over a month

Bangladesh has registered its highest number of single-day Covid-19 fatalities in more than a month, increasing the overall death toll to 13,118, according to health authorities.
 
On Sunday, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 47 new coronavirus fatalities, marking the highest number of daily deaths since May 9, reports Xinhua news agency.
 
The DGHS meanwhile reported 2,436 new confirmed cases in Bangladesh, taking the total tally to 826,922,

American workers quitting jobs at highest rate in last two decades

More Americans are quitting their jobs than at any other time in at least two decades, which added challenges to companies trying to keep up with the economic recovery, a media report said.
 
"The wave of resignations marks a sharp turn from the darkest days of the pandemic, when many workers craved job security while weathering a national health and economic crisis," Xinhua news agency quoted The Wall Street Journal report as saying on Sunday.
 
Citing data from the Labour Department, the report said that the share of US workers leaving jobs was 2.7 per cent in April, a jump from 1.6 per cent a year earlier to the highest level since at least 2000. Read on...

AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday alleged that India's death toll from Covid-19 is "nowhere close to the real extent of damage" and accused the Centre of botching up the actual number of casualties.
 
He stated that families who have lost a dear one deserve to be counted.

From today, no RT-PCR report required to enter Himachal

In a big relief for tourists, people entering Himachal Pradesh will not be required to produce RT-PCR negative report from today, even though Covid curfew would continue from 5pm to 5am. This was decided by the Himachal cabinet in its meeting on Friday.
