Covid positivity rate comes down to 12.13% in Gurugram
In two weeks' time, Covid-19 positivity rate in Gurugram district has come down to 12.13 per cent from 24 per cent. Similarly, the recovery rate has also increased to 95.65 per cent, according to an official statement of the district administration.
According to health officials, now the number of daily reported patients in Gurugram district has come down significantly. Only 516 Covid cases were reported in Gurugram on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Gurugram Yash Garg said that on April 29, the district registered a positivity rate of 41.98 per cent, 34.91 per cent on April 30, 34.4 per cent on May 2, 24 per cent on May 11 and on May 23, it came down to 12.13 per cent. (PTI)

Tissue maker Origami's online sales up 30% post pandemic
Disposable paper products maker Origami is witnessing strong growth in sales after the pandemic, especially in the online sales channel which has grown by 30 per cent, a top company official said.
This is helped by a change in consumer behaviour post the outbreak of Covid-19 and increasing awareness about disposable hygiene and personal care products, the official added.
Origami offers products ranging from paper napkins, toilet tissue rolls and facial tissues to kitchen and hand towels, pocket tissues, wet wipes, paper plates and cups, and table covers. (PTI)

Serum disassociates itself from its executive's remarks on Covid vaccination drive
The Serum Institute has disassociated itself from its executive director's statement that the government began the Covid-19 vaccination of multiple age groups without taking into consideration the available stock, stating that this is "not the view of the company".
In a letter to the Union Health Ministry on May 22, Prakash Kumar Singh, Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), clarified that the statement by its executive director Suresh Jadav at a recent event is not the view of the company, sources said.
"On behalf of our CEO Adar C Poonawalla, I want to inform you that this statement is not issued on behalf of SIIPL (Serum Institute of India Private Limited) and the Company completely dissociates itself from this statement. It is reiterated that, this is not the view of the company at all. (PTI)

UP records 4,800 new cases, active infections down to 84,800
Amid a partial coronavirus curfew to contain spread of Covid-19, Uttar Pradesh reported 4,800 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
According to Additional Chief Secretary-Information, Navneet Sehgal on Sunday, active coronavirus cases in the state currently stand at 84,800, down by almost 2,26,000 from the peak in the last 20 days.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday informed that the state aims to protect children aged below 10 years by getting their parents/kin vaccinated on priority. (PTI)

Record 21.23 lakh Covid-19 tests conducted in single day: Centre
India has set a record of conducting the highest COVID-19 testing in a single day with more than 21.23 lakh fresh tests, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
This is also the fifth successive day that more than 20 lakh tests have been conducted in India, it said
Cumulatively, 21,23,782 tests conducted have been conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. The ministry also said that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 19.50 crore on Sunday. A total of 19,50,04,184 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,00,808 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today," it said.

Pakistan reports 3,084 fresh Covid-19 cases; tally exceeds 900,000
Pakistan's total number of confirmed coronavirus infections passed 900,000 on Sunday after the country reported 3,084 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The country's coronavirus positivity rate fell to more than two months low on Sunday, the Ministry of National Health Services said.
The authorities detected 3,084 new cases after 62,061 tests in the last 24 hours, showing a positivity rate of 4.97 per cent, which is lowest than the 4.53 per cent recorded on March 9. The death toll rose to 20,251. READ MORE...

21.80 crore Covid vaccine doses provided to states, UTs so far: Centre
More than 21.80 crore vaccine doses against COVID-19 have been provided to states and Union Territories so far and over 1.90 crore jabs are still available with them, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
In a statement, the ministry said 40,650 COVID-19 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the states/UTs within the next three days.
"The government has so far provided, both through the free-of-cost category and through direct state procurement category, more than 21.80 crore vaccine doses (21,80,51,890) to states/UTs," the ministry said in a statement.
