Ladakh coronavirus update: 165 new cases, 105 recoveries reported

The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 165 fresh Covid-19 cases, 105 recoveries and two deaths on Monday, as per the Department of Information and Public Relations, Leh.
 
With this, the total number of cases in the region escalated to 18310 including 1,614 active cases and 16,859 total recoveries. However, the total death toll surged to 187 including the new deaths.

UP coronavirus update: Death toll reaches 450 in Noida, 442 in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad recorded 47 new COVID-19 cases while Gautam Buddh Nagar added another 68 on Monday, even as the two neighbouring districts in western Uttar Pradesh together registered seven more deaths, official data showed.
 
Six of the new deaths were in Ghaziabad, while one in Gautam Buddh Nagar, as the toll in these districts reached 442 and 450, respectively, according to the state's Health Department data for a 24-hour period.
 
According to the data, so far 62,356 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Gautam Buddh Nagar, which has 1,073 active cases. Read on...

Pune coronavirus update: District records 1,083 new cases, 53 deaths

reported 1,083 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking its tally to 10,13,804, while 53 more fatalities pushed the toll to 16,867, a health department official said.

Delhi coronavirus update: 648 new cases; daily positivity rate now below 1%

With the daily positivity rate of COVID-19 dipping below 1 per cent for the first time since March 19, Delhi reported 648 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
 
The daily positivity rate is at 0.99 per cent. The cumulative count of the coronavirus cases in the national capital went up to 14,26,240, according to its health bulletin.
 
With 86 deaths in the last 24 hours, Delhi registered less than 100 COVID-related deaths for the second day in a row. Now, the total death toll in the national capital reached 24,237. Read on....

Karnataka coronavirus update: Increase in case tally plunges to 16,604

New Covid cases plunged to 16,604 in a day across Karnataka, with 3,992 cases in Bengaluru, while 411 succumbed to the infection during the day, said the state health bulletin on Monday.
 
"With 16,604 new cases registered on Sunday, the state's Covid tally rose to 26,04,431, including 3,13,730 active cases, while 22,61,490 recovered, with a record 44,473 patients discharged during the day," said the health bulletin. Read on....

WHO names Covid-19 variants found in India as 'Kappa' and 'Delta'

The B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2 variants of the Covid-19, first identified in India, has been named as 'Kappa' and 'Delta' respectively, the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced on Monday as it named various variants of the coronavirus using Greek alphabets.
 
"Today, @WHO announces new, easy-to-say labels for #SARSCoV2 Variants of Concern (VOCs) & Interest (VOIs). They will not replace existing scientific names, but are aimed to help in public discussion of VOI/VOC," Dr Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO's technical Covid-19 lead, tweeted on Monday. Read on...
