Kerala adds 15,914 fresh Covid-19 cases, 122 deaths

Kerala on Thursday logged 15,914 fresh COVID-19 cases and 122 deaths, which took the caseload to 46,80,885 and the toll to 25,087.

The number of people who recovered from the infection since Wednesday was 16,758, which brought the total recoveries to 45,12,662 and the number of active cases to 1,42,529, an official press release said.

As many as 1,03,871 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.

Covid-19 batters Mizoram, active cases shoot to 16,481

Mizoram reported 1,741 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, taking the number of active cases to 16,841, officials said.

Among the new patients were 304 children, they said.

One more person died of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 307.

30 medical students of Mumbai civic hospital test positive for Covid-19

As many as 30 medical students of civic-run KEM Hospital in Mumbai have tested positive for COVID-19, a BMC official said on Thursday.

One of the MBBS students, who has mild symptoms of the infection, has been admitted to SevenHills Hospital for treatment, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official.

Delhi records zero death, 47 new cases; positivity rate 0.06%

Delhi on Thursday recorded zero death due to Covid-19 and 47 fresh cases with a positivity rate of 0.06 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

Five fatalities due to the coronavirus infection have been reported this month one each on September 7, September 16 and September 17, and two on September 28, according to official figures.

The death toll due to the coronavirus infection in Delhi stands at 25,087.

23 MBBS students test Covid-19 positive in Mumbai

Amidst ongoing preparation of reopening schools in the state, 23 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students of Mumbai's KEM hospital found Covid-19 positive with mild symptoms on Thursday, according to ANI.
 
Two students have been admitted to Seven Hills Hospital for treatment while the other students have been quarantined at their homes.
 
Speaking on the matter Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said "We are investigating how the student got infected but there is a possibility that the infection spread due to a cultural and sports event held in the college."

Russia records 23,888 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours

Russia recorded 23,888 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, up from 22,430 the day before, bringing the cumulative total to 7,511,026, the federal response centre said on Thursday, according to ANI.
 
This is the highest single-day increase since July 25, when the country confirmed 24,072 new cases.
 
"Over the past day, 23,888 COVID-19 cases were confirmed across 85 Russian regions, including 2,020 cases (8.5 per cent) without clinical symptoms," the centre said, adding that the rate of increase grew to 0.32%.
