Covid-19 LIVE: Andhra Pradesh reports 1,395 fresh coronavirus cases
Andhra Pradesh reported 1,395 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total to 8,56,159 on Tuesday. In the 24 hours ending 9 am on Tuesday, as many as 2,293 patients got cured, increasing the total recoveries to 8,32,284.
Nine fresh fatalities took the overall toll to 6,890, the latest bulletin said. The active cases in the state fell further to 16,985. After a total of 92.64 lakh sample tests, the infection positivity rate stood at 9.24 per cent while the recovery rate improved further to 97.21 per cent.

Doubling Covid-19 capacity, raising ICU beds among steps taken to tackle spike in Delhi cases: Govt
Doubling COVID-19 testing capacity to 1 to 1.2 lakh and increasing ICU beds to over 6,000 are among the decisions taken by the government to tackle the spike in coronavirus infections in Delhi, the Centre said on Tuesday. A decision has also been taken to increase house to house surveillance of active cases in containment zones and other vulnerable pockets for which 7,000-8,000 teams will be put on this exercise, a hike from the existing 3,000 teams that are currently involved.
Addressing a press conference, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said Delhi was testing very less in June at around 5,776 tests per day and that number rose to over 50,000 in September which after that plateaud out and the recent spike of COVID cases may be because many positive cases escaped the net.

Philippines logs 1,148 new coronavirus infections, lowest in over 10 days
The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines on Tuesday reported 1,148 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number in the country to 410,718. Tuesday's number of new daily cases is the lowest since Nov. 4. The DOH has been reporting less than 2,000 cases of daily increase since Nov. 10.
The DOH said 186 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 374,543, and the death toll climbed to 7,862 with 23 new deaths. The DOH said it had tested over 4.98 million people in the Philippines so far. The Philippines has a population of about 110 million.

Indonesia reports 3,807 new Covid-19 cases, 97 more deaths
Indonesia recorded 3,807 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing its total tally to 474,455 with 15,393 deaths, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The death toll included 97 newly reported, according to the ministry. Meanwhile, 3,193 more patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 398,636.
The coronavirus epidemic has spread to all the country's 34 provinces. Jakarta recorded 1,037 new cases, Central Java 652, West Java 648, Riau 268, and East Java 206. No new cases were detected in the two provinces of Banten and Gorontalo.

Over 100,000 new coronavirus cases and 1,200 deaths in Delhi since Nov 1
Delhi recorded over one lakh new coronavirus cases and around 1,200 deaths between November 1-16 while nearly 94,000 COVID-19 patients recovered during the same period, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The national capital has witnessed a sudden spike in coronavirus cases since October 28 when the daily rise breached the 5,000-mark for the first time and it crossed the 8,000-mark on November 11.
On November 12, 104 coronavirus-related deaths, the highest in over five months, were recorded in the city. According to health department data, 1,01,070 coronavirus cases have been recorded so far this month. Also, 1,202 people have died of COVID-19 while 93,885 coronavirus patients have recovered from the virus since November 1.

India, China may start producing Russia's Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine: Vladimir Putin
India and China may start producing Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19, the RIA news agency cited President Vladimir Putin as saying on Tuesday.
Putin also proposed that the creation of a vaccine research centre for BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - be sped up, Reuters reported.

UP records 1,455 fresh coronavirus cases, 19 more deaths
Uttar Pradesh's COVID-19 case count mounted to 5,14,270 on Tuesday with 1,455 fresh infections, while the death toll climbed to 7,412 with 19 more fatalities. The number of active cases in the state stands at 22,166, they said.
"The state reported 1,455 new cases in the past 24 hours, while 1,338 people were discharged during the same period," Additional Chief Secretary said. "The state has 22,166 active cases and the number of those who recovered from the infection is 4,84,692," he said.
Nineteen more people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 7,412.

Coronavirus vaccine update: Moderna, Pfizer raise hopes; J&J in final stage
In a year since the coronavirus pandemic hit the world, it has left over 1.3 million people dead and affected over 55 million across the globe. But some positive developments lately around a possible vaccine for the virus has raised some hopes. US-based Moderna has joined Pfizer in approaching the vaccine finish line, with the company saying its vaccine candidate is 94.5 per cent effective in preventing infection. For its part, Pfizer has announced last week that its vaccine candidate was over 90 per cent effective.
The two companies plan to apply for emergency-use authorisation later this month, and they could begin to immunise 20 million people as early as December. Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine is 92 per cent effective.
