Covid antibodies detected up to 3 months after infection: Study

Researchers have revealed that the vast majority of individuals have detectable antibodies up to three months post contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes Covid-19.
 
The study, published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases, shows that IgA and IgM antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 decay quickly, while IgG antibody levels are maintained for at least three months after infection.
 
In this new study, researchers measured three main types of antibodies (IgM, IgG and IgA) directed against the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, which allows it to infect human cells.

Telangana coronavirus update: 925 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths reported

Telangana reported 925 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 2.62 lakh while three related fatalities pushed the toll to 1,426.
 
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 161, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 91 and Rangareddy 75, a government bulletin said on Saturday providing details as of 8 pm on November 20.

Children battling Covid-19 seek emotional support through govt helpline

A 17-year-old was feeling very low and anxious after getting infected with COVID-19 and had trouble concentrating on his studies since he contracted the virus.
 
To address the emotional trauma he suffered, he reached out to the NCPCR's toll-free helpline number 1800-121-2830 for counselling and psycho-social support.
 
Over 400 such calls of children who suffered from coronavirus have been tackled by the NCPCR helpline since its inception in September, an official with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) said.

Maharashtra coronavirus update: 670 new cases in Thane

The coronavirus count in Thane district of Maharashtra has reached 2,22,263 with the addition of 670 new cases, an official said on Saturday.
 
These cases were added on Friday, he said.
 
The death toll in the district mounted to 5,582 as the virus claimed 14 more lives.
 
So far, 2,10,293 patients have recuperated from the infection, taking the district's recovery rate to 94.61 per cent. The number of active patients is 6,388 at present, he said.
 
Thane's mortality rate is 2.51 per cent now, the official added.

Pondy registers 65 new COVID-19 cases, no fresh fatality reported

Puducherry logged 65 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday taking the total infection count in the union territory to 36,648.
 
The toll due to the viral infection remained 609 as no new deaths were reported.
 
Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that the new positive cases were identified at the end of examination of 3,537 samples in the last 24 hours ending at 10 am on Saturday.

Thirteen more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, pushing the coronavirus tally in the union territory to 4,617, a health department official said on Saturday.
 
Of the 13 new cases, nine have travel history, while two infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.
