Maharashtra coronavirus update: 3,144 new Covid-19 cases in Thane, 10 more deaths
With the addition of3,144 new cases ofcoronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 3,12,705,an official said on Tuesday.
Besides these new cases reported on Monday, 10 more people also succumbed to the viral infection, raising the death toll in the district to 6,454, he said.
The Covid-19 mortality rate in Thane is 2.06 per cent, he said.
So far, 2,77,536 patients have recuperated from the infection in the district, which reflects a recovery rate of 88.75 per cent. Read on...

Chinese mainland reports no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases
The Chinese mainland on Monday reported no new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, the National Health Commission said on Tuesday.
The same day saw eight new imported cases on the mainland, the commission said in its daily report, Xinhua news agency reported.

Paraguay on Monday received a shipment of 1,00,000 doses of India's indigenously developed Covaxin vaccine.

90% adult Americans eligible to be vaccinated in 3 weeks: Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden has said 90 per cent of adult Americans will be eligible to get Covid-19 vaccination in three weeks.
He told a White House briefing on Monday that while 90 per cent of adult Americans will be eligible to get vaccinated by April 19, the remaining 10 per cent will be eligible by May 1, Xinhua news agency reported.
Biden's remarks came as the country has seen a rise in new Covid-19 cases in 27 states.
Biden said cases are "going back" as people relax safeguards. Letting down guard could make the pandemic "worse," he noted.
Biden vowed to direct governors to reinstate mask mandates.

Jharkhand BJP seeks FIR against Congress MLA over breach of Covid-19 norms on Holi
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an FIR against Jharkhand's Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad for violating Covid-19 guidelines on Holi put forth by the state.
"The state government itself had put a ban on celebrating Holi publically due to surge in Covid-19 cases. But when a Congress MLA, who is in the coalition with the government, celebrates Holi publically in the presence of hundreds of people, no action is being taken by the administration. This shows that the double standards," BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo, while speaking to ANI over the phone, said.
"If a common person or an Opposition leader violates the guidelines, they always take action," he added.
In a video posted on Prasad's Twitter handle, a gathering of the crowd and the MLA breaking the earthen pot (Matka) were seen.

Morocco suspends air traffic with France, Spain over coronavirus surge
Morocco is suspending flights to France and Spain due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, the kingdom's government said in a statement on Monday.
