Spain at risk of another spike in coronavirus infections: Health Minister

Spain's top health official has warned the country is at risk of another spike in coronavirus infections that has already struck many parts of Europe.
 
We are facing a decisive moment, Health Minister Carolina Darias said after meeting with Spain's regional health chiefs on Wednesday. We must invert this tendency. We have to intensify our efforts.
 
Darias says the spread of the more contagious variants is pushing up infections across Spain. A nightly curfew and other restrictions on movement had put a cap on infections until two weeks ago, when the figures started to increase.

Health Minister K Sudhakar informed that Karnataka has received four lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday night and said the state government have taken measures to ensure no shortage of doses.
 
"Karnataka received four lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine late last night and another tranche of 12 lakh doses expected to arrive by this week. Measures have been taken to ensure that there is no shortage of vaccine in the State," Sudhakar said.

With Covid cases rising rapidly again, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) on Wednesday allowed insurers to continue to offer as well as renew standard corona policies. In June 2020, the insurance watchdog had issued guidelines for insurers to roll out standard Covid policies — Corona Kavach and Corona Rakshak — by July 10 the same year for those aged 18-65 years. Insurers were permitted to offer these policies till March 31, 2021.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has unexpectedly halted a plan for a very strict lockdown over the Easter holidays that would have started Thursday next week, saying she was mistaken regarding the issue.
 
"I decided this morning not to implement a regulation that was agreed on Monday in order to make Maundy Thursday and Holy Saturday extra rest days, but rather to stop it," she told reporters as quoted by Sputnik.
