Puducherry logs eight new Covid-19 cases

Puducherry logged eight fresh cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Monday,taking the caseload to 39,600. No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and the toll remained at 663. The active cases stood at 174, while 26 patients were discharged after recovery in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 38,763.
 
Director of Health and Family Welfare services S Mohan Kumar said three new cases each were reported in Puducherry and Karaikal, while Mahe recorded two at the end of examination of 523 samples.

Delhi reports 128 new coronavirus cases, one fresh death

Delhi recorded 128 COVID-19 cases and one fatality on Monday, even as the positivity rate stood at 0.30 per cent, authorities said. With the latest update in figures, authorities said, while the overall toll rose to 10,901, the number of cases went up to 6,38,028.
 
The new 128 cases came out of the 42,242 tests -- including 31,234 RT-PCR tests and 11,008 rapid antigen tests -- conducted the previous day, the bulletin said. The number of active cases Monday stood at 1,041, according to the bulletin. The number of people under home isolation as on Monday was 471, it said. On Sunday, 145 cases and two deaths were registered.

Non-adherence to Covid-19 norms behind surge in infections in Punjab: Health officials

With Punjab witnessing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, health officials on Monday ascribed the upswing to people not adhering to safety guidelines like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
 
According to the state health department data, Punjab has recorded daily cases between 200 and 350 for the last several days.
 
It added almost 5,000 cases in a period of 21 days starting February 1. The number of active cases on February 21 stood at 3,019 as against 2,101 on February 1, an increase of 44 per cent, the data showed.

National coronavirus positivity rate at 5.20%: Health Ministry

India has registered a record in the number of COVID-19 cumulative tests, with over 21.15 crore samples tested, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday. The country's national positivity rate is pegged at 5.20 per cent. Progressive countrywide expansion in testing infrastructure has played a crucial role in the steep rise of testing numbers, the ministry underlined.

Odisha's Covid-19 caseload climbs to 336,705

Odisha's COVID-19 tally on Monday mounted to 3,36,705 after 69 people tested positive for the virus, even as three districts were declared coronavirus- free, a health department official said.
 
Of the new cases, 41 were reported from quarantine centres and the remaining were detected during contact tracing.

Maharashtra's Amravati under week-long curfew amid spike in Covid-19 cases

Amravati in Maharashtra will be placed under a week-long curfew from 8 pm on Monday due to the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the district. The district administration stated that only shops selling essentials commodities will be allowed to remain open during the curfew from 8 am to 3 pm.
 
Shailesh Naval, District Collector Amaravati said, "A curfew will be imposed in Amravati Municipal Corporation and Achalpur Municipal Council limits from 8 pm on February 22 to 6 am on March 1. During this curfew, only essentials shops will be open from 8 am to 3 pm".

Maharashtra reported 6,971 new COVID-19 cases and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours.
