Arunachal remains coronavirus-free for second day, over 32,000 inoculated
Arunachal Pradesh remained a coronavirus-free state for the second consecutive day, as no positive case was reported in the past 24 hours, a senior health official said on Monday.
The total caseload remained at 16,836, while the number of recoveries stood at 16,780, State Surveillance Officer Lobsang Jampa said.
So far, 56 people have died due to the contagion, he said.
Arunachal Pradesh's recovery rate and positivity rate are at 99.66 per cent and zero per cent, respectively, the official said.

World coronavirus update: Confirmed cases in Germany increase by 4,732 cases
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 4,732 to 2,447,068, data from the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases showed. The reported death toll rose by 60 to 70,105, the tally showed.

Global Covid cases top 114 million, death toll at 2.53 min: Johns Hopkins
The total number of global Covid-19 cases has topped 114 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.53 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Monday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 114,043,020 and 2,530,004 respectively.
The US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 28,605,527 and 513,091, respectively, according to the CSSE. Read on...

Maharashtra coronavirus update: 668 new Covid-19 cases in Thane, 4 more deaths
With the addition of 668 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has reached 2,64,918,an official said on Monday.
Four more deaths due to the viral infection were also reported in the district on Sunday, raising the toll to 6,272, he said.
The Covid-19 fatality rate in the district stood at 2.37 per cent, the official said.

DATA STORY: At 168,627, India's active Covid cases back to Jan-end level
India on Monday reported a net increase of 4,116 to take its count of active coronavirus cases to 168,627, the highest level since January 31. This is 83.43 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 0.77 per cent (one in 130). The country is 13th among the most affected countries by active cases. On Monday, it added 15,510 cases to take its total caseload to 11,112,241. CoWIN opens for self-registration
The phase 3 of Covid vaccination started on Monday and the Co-WIN portal also started the self registration for the 27 crore elligible for the shots, who are above 60 and those above 45 years with comorbidities.
The portal can be accessed at https://selfregistration.cowin.gov.in/
The massive inoculation drive against the Covid-19 disease in this phase was lead from the front on the day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the jab at AIIMS here earlier.
Eligible beneficiaries can register at the Co-WIN 2.0 portal through their mobile number following a step by step process. After registration, the application will show the government and private hospitals serving as Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC) with the date and time of the available schedules.

Weeklong lockdown in Hingoli as Maharashtra breaches 8,000-mark 5th day in a row
As Maharashtra breached the 8,000-mark for the fifth consecutive day, the Hingoli district administration on Sunday imposed a weeklong lockdown till March 7.
A total of 46 new Covid-19 cases were found on Saturday in Hingoli, located in the state’s Marathwada region, raising its tally to 4,083, as per official figures. Hingoli Collector Ruchesh Jayvanshi in an order issued on Saturday evening said the curfew will come into force from 7 am on Monday and continue till March 7 midnight. Schools, colleges, religious places and function halls shall remain closed during the period, while banks will operate only for administrative work, said the order.

First batch of China-donated Covid vaccine Sinovac arrive in Philippines
A batch of Sinovac vaccine CoronaVac donated by China arrived in the Philippines on Sunday, the first Covid-19 vaccine to reach the Southeast Asian country.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte witnessed the unloading of the vaccines at a Philippine Air Force base located in the capital, the Xinhua news reported.
