Gujarat records 1,330 Covid-19 cases; 15 die, 1,276 recover

Gujarat's Covid-19 tally rose to 1,05,671 with 1,330 new cases reported on Monday, the state health department said.
 
With 15 more deaths, the Covid-19 fatalitiesin the state increased to 3,123, it said.
 
At the sametime, 1,276 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered cases to 86,034, the department said in a release here.
 
As many as 72,690 tests were conducted in the state for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, at a rate of 1,118.30 tests per day per million population, it said.

Ramping up testing amid increasing cases of Covid-19, the Puducherry government has roped in the ICMR-sponsored Vector Control Research Centre (VCRC) here to screen 1,000 samples daily soon, in addition to the existing capacity.
 
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy told a virtual press conference on Monday that he had spoken to the Chairman of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), seeking the VCRC's cooperation for testing the swab samples for Covid-19.

Over 1,000 Covid-19 cases in J&K for 5th day; 17 more dead

Jammu and Kashmir recorded more than 1,000 coronavirus cases for the fifth consecutive day on Monday, pushing the caseload in the UT to 44,570, officials said. And 17 deaths in the past 24 hours pushed the Covid-19 death toll to 801, they said.
 
"The UT recorded 1,013 cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. This is for the fifth time in five days the number of fresh cases has crossed 1,000 in a 24-hour period," an official said.
 
Of the fresh cases, 600 were from Jammu region and 413 from Kashmir valley. Jammu district reported the highest 442 cases, followed by 136 in Srinagar district.

Gujarat: Migrant workers' employers asked to follow Covid-19 norms

As migrant labourers have started returning to Surat in Gujarat, the city civic body has asked their employers to follow the state labour department's guidelines for their mandatory COVID-19 testing and quarantine or else face action.
 
As per the guidelines, any migrant labourer showing coronavirus symptoms will have to be mandatorily quarantined for seven days before joining work, the Surat Municipal Corporation said on Monday.
 
 
Also, all migrant labourers returning to Surat will have to undergo antibody tests for COVID-19. If they are not found to have antibodies, they will have to undergo an antigen test, the civic body said.

Covid-19: Rajasthan chief secy asks officials to opt for virtual meetings

Rajasthan Chief Secretary Rajeeva Swarup on Monday directed senior state officials to opt for virtual meetings in view of rising cases of coronavirus, according to a release. Taking the initiative, the chief secretary himself held a video conference with officials to review the status of silicosis cases in the state.
 
Official meetings at the state secretariat here are generally held in the conference hall or committee room.

Nepal's coronavirus cases soar to 47,236

Nepal reported 979 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 47,236, according to official data. Apart from the fresh cases, 11 new virus-related deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, said Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam. Now the Covid-19 death toll stands at 300.
 
Of the new cases, 326 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley.
 
The number of coronavirus-recovered cases rose to 30,677 after 1,736 patients were discharged from hospitals and community care facilities in the last 24 hours.
