Delhi records zero death, 24 new cases; positivity rate drops to 0.03%

Delhi on Friday recorded zero death due to COVID-19 and 24 fresh cases, as the positivity rate dropped to 0.03 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department. Three fatalities due to the coronavirus infection have been reported this month one each on September 7, September 16 and September 17, according to official figures.
 
The death toll due to Covid in Delhi stands at 25,085.
 
On Friday, 24 cases were recorded with a reduced positivity rate of 0.03 per cent, according to the latest health bulletin. On Thursday, 48 cases were reported with a positivity rate of 0.07 per cent, while on Wednesday, 30 cases were logged with a positivity rate of 0.04 per cent. On August 21, Delhi had recorded a low positivity rate of 0.03 per cent when 19 cases and zero deaths were reported.

77 children among Odisha's 539 new COVID-19 cases

Coronavirus infection among children continued to rise in Odisha even as the number of new cases dropped to 539 on Friday, a health department official said.
 
There were 77 children among the new patients on Friday.
 
Seventy-two children were diagnosed with the infection of the 644 new cases detected on Thursday. Odisha has so far reported 10,23,133 COVID-19 cases. Khurda district reported the highest number of new cases at 254, followed by Cuttack (48) and Jagatsinghpur (31).

AP sees significant drop in Covid-19 positivity; 1,246 new cases, 10 deaths

Andhra Pradesh recorded 1,246 fresh COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Friday, taking the caseload to 20,44,490. A total of 2.79 crore samples have been tested till date and the overall infection positivity rate is 7.32 per cent, down from 7.42 per cent the previous week The total recoveries increased to 20,16,837 at the rate of 98.64 per cent (up from 98.59 per cent).
 
During the period, 1,450 infected persons got cured of coronavirus.
 
The overall mortality rate, after a total of 14,118 deaths, including 10 in a day, remained stable at 0.69 per cent. The state is now ranked fourth in the country with 13,535 active cases. Only three districts showed a considerable increase in Covid-19 positivity rate while the remaining 10 had seen a slide in Andhra Pradesh week-on-week.

One more death, 148 new cases in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 148 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday that took the infection count to 3,28,738, while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 4,420, officials said. Of the new cases, 28 were from the Jammu division and 120 from Kashmir division, they said.
 
Srinagar district recorded the highest 66 new cases followed by 17 cases in Baramulla district, officials said.
 
There are 1,605 active cases in the Union Territory, while the overall recoveries has reached 3,27,163, the officials said. The death toll has reached at 4,420 after one more fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, they said. Meanwhile, officials said, there were 46 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory and no fresh case was reported since Thursday evening.

Children less severely impacted by Covid-19 pandemic: WHO chief scientist

Children have been less severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and their chances of recovery are very well, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said on Friday.

She, however, said SARS-CoV2 virus may not disappear, but it is not going to cause the kind of impact and panic it caused over the last two years.

Goa records 84 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths, 93 recoveries

Goa's coronavirus caseload increased by 84 and reached 1,75,956 on Friday, while two more patients succumbed to the infection, pushing the toll to 3,299, a health department official said.

The number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,71,692 after 93 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, he said. Goa now has 965 active coronavirus cases. "With 4,102 new coronavirus tests, the number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 13,24,081, he added.

Mumbai reports 446 new Covid-19 cases, 6 deaths, 430 recoveries

Mumbai reported 446 new coronavirus cases on Friday, down 51 from a day ago, and six fresh deaths, while 430 more patients recovered from the infection, a civic official said.

With these additions, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the city rose to 7,40,307, while the death toll increased to 16,074, he said.

Karnataka has "best managed" the Covid-19 pandemic: Minister
