131 new cases push Nagaland's Covid-19 tally to 5,214
Nagaland reported 131 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, pushing the tally to 5,214, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said. Among the 131 people who tested positive for the infection on Monday, 77 were Army personnel.
The minister also said, 14 patients were cured of the disease on Monday - 9 in Kiphire, 4 in Dimapur and 1 in Mon.
The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients is 74.74 per cent on Monday. It had gone up to 87.82 per cent on August 8.

Tamil Nadu reports 5,752 new Covid-19 cases, 53 deaths
Tamil Nadu reported 5,752 fresh Covid cases on Monday, taking the tally to 5,08,511 while the death toll mounted to 8,434 with 53 more fatalities. Of the fresh infections, Chennai reported 991 and the remainder was spread across Tamil Nadu, a health department bulletin said.
The state capital accounted for 1,49,583 out of the five lakh plus total positive cases. The deceased included two men aged 29 and 90, a 33-year- old woman and in total 50 had co-morbidities.

Mumbai airport launches Covid-19 testing facility for arriving passengers
Mumbai airport has launched the Covid-19 testing facility for all arriving passengers , which can be availed at a charge of Rs 1,600 onwards, a move that would help international passengers opt out of institutional quarantine, depending upon the test results, a release said on Monday.
The RT-PCR testing facility, which is in compliance with the standards of the ICMR and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), is planned to be expanded further for departing passengers as well shortly, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) said in the release.
The provision for 24X7 coronavirus testing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) comes days after GMR group-owned Delhi airport set up a similar mechanism on its premises. As per the latest directive of the civil aviation ministry, airports are directed to implement a testing facility at the airport for international transit passengers booked on a connecting domestic flight, MIAL said.

Covid-19: Goa BJP MLAs Fernandes, Sopte test positive
Goa BJP MLAs Antonio alias Tony Fernandes and Dayanand Sopte have tested positive for novel coronavirus infection, a senior state health department official said on Monday.
St Cruz MLA Fernandes is in a private hospital since Sunday while Mandrem legislator Sopte has opted for home isolation after exhibiting mild symptoms, the official said. Over the past two months, several MLAs, including Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, were detected with the infection.

2,540 Covid-19 cases, 15 more deaths in Kerala
Kerala reported 2,540 Covid-19 cases on Monday, taking the infection tally to 1,10,818, while 15 more deaths took the toll up to 454, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. As many as 2,110 people recovered from the virus today and 30,486 people are presently under treatment for the infection, he told reporters here.
So far, 79,813 people have recovered.
Of the positive cases, 34 had come from abroad and 73 from other states, while 2346 people were infected through contact and the source of infection of 212 people was not known, he said.

Noida: 141 new Covid-19 cases, tally climbs to 10,332
Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Monday recorded 141 new Covid-19 patients and the infection tally reached 10,332, official data showed. The number of active cases stood at 1,979, down from 2,008 on Sunday, according to the data released by the UP Health department for a 24-hour period.
The district, adjoining Delhi, has so far recorded 48 deaths linked to the pandemic, with one of the lowest mortality rates 0.46 per cent -- in the state, it showed.

Dharavi reports 23 new Covid-19 patients; active cases at 156
The tally of Covid-19 cases in Mumbai's Dharavi increased to 2,938 on Monday with 23 more persons testing positive for the infection, the city civic body said.
Notably, this was the fifth consecutive day of double digit rise in cases in the slum-dominated area where Covid-19 mitigation measures undertaken by authorities had received praise from various quarters.
Since the past more than a month, Dharavi used to report single digit cases barring a few days. A BMC official said 2,512 patients have already recovered in Dharavi and discharged from hospitals.

Concern should be number of deaths due to Covid-19, not the number of cases: Delhi CM
Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the coronavirus death rate in the national capital is perhaps the lowest in the world and the concern should be the number of deaths due the virus and not the number of cases.
"The largest number of Covid-19 tests are being carried out in Delhi at present. Eleven per cent Delhi has been tested so far with nearly 2.1 million tests. The concern should be number of deaths not the number of Covid cases. Death rate in Delhi is perhaps the lowest in the whole world," the chief minister said in his address during the one-day session of the Delhi Assembly.

UP records 62 fresh coronavirus deaths, over 5,200 new cases
Uttar Pradesh recorded 62 Covid-19 deaths on Monday, while the number of cases went up by 5,208, taking the overall figures to 4,491 fatalities and 3,17,195 infections, officials said.
"The count of active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 67,287, while 2,45,417 people have recovered till date," a heath bulletin issued here said.
The Monday additions took the total number of Covid-19 cases to 3,17,195, while the death toll reached 4,491, the bulletin said. The fresh cases included 992 from Lucknow, 346 from Allahabad, 341 from Kanpur, 278 from Ghaziabad, 186 rom Gorakhpur, 158 from Meerut and 154 from Varanasi, it added.

Tripura's Covid-19 tally rises to 19,187 with 255 fresh cases
At least 255 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Tripura on Monday, pushing the tally in the state to 19,187, a health department official said.
The death toll has risen to 200 with six more fatalities, he said. West Tripura district, which also comprises state capital Agartala, accounted for 110 of the coronavirus deaths, the official said.
The state now has 7,429 active cases, while 11,536 people have recovered from the disease, he said, adding, 22 patients have migrated to other states. A total of 3,31,374 samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far.

AYUSH practices inducted into protocol for recovering Covid-19 patients
Several AYUSH practices have been inducted into the management protocol for patients who have recovered from Covid-19, an official statement said on Monday.
In the statement, the AYUSH ministry said the protocol provides an integrated holistic approach for patients of Covid to care at home and is not meant to be used as preventive and curative therapy. As of now, patients who have recovered from acute Covid-19 illness have continued to report a variety of symptoms like fatigue, cough, sore throat, the ministry said.
"The post-Covid follow-up protocol, on individual level, advises continued appropriate use of mask, hand and respiratory hygiene, physical distancing etc. Adequate consumption of hot water and immunity promoting AYUSH medicine is advised after prescribed by a qualified practitioner of AYUSH," it said.
