Haryana CM recovers from Covid-19, urges people to follow guidelines

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday returned to state capital Chandigarh after recovering from COVID-19 and urged people to religiously follow all the guidelines like wearing masks and social distancing to stay safe.
 
He asserted that there was no need to be afraid of coronavirus, but we have to remain vigilant.
 
After testing positive for novel coronavirus on August 24, barely two days before the day-long monsoon session of the state assembly, Khattar was admitted to Gurgaon's Medanta Hospital for treatment.
 
Khattar, 66, had developed fever and body ache three days prior to testing positive for COVID-19.

4.56 mn Covidcases, 76,271 deaths in India till Sept 11: Vardhan

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Monday that a total of 45,62,414 novel coronavirus cases and 76,271 deaths, with a case fatality rate of 1.67 per cent, had been reported in India till September 11.
 
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Vardhan said as many as 35,42,663 people, which is 77.65 per cent of the cases, had recovered from the pathogen.
 
The maximum cases and deaths from the infection have been primarily reported from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karantaka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Assam, Kerala and Gujarat. "All these states have reported more than 1 lakh cases," the minister said.

Ladakh's Covid-19 tally at 3,345, toll reaches 40

The death toll due to Covid-19 in Ladakh has reached 40 after one more patient succumbed to the infection in the Union Territory, officials said on Monday.
 
The 83-year-old patient, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, died in Leh district on Sunday, they said.
 
The officials said this was the seventeenth in Leh due to Covid-19 while the rest of the 23 fatalities had occurred in Kargil district.
 
Ladakh had recorded 3,345 Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March. While 2,436 patients have recovered from the disease, 869 others, including 465 in Leh and 404 in Kargil, are still undergoing treatment, the officials said.

India overtakes Brazil to record highest number of Covid-19 recoveries in world: Johns Hopkins

India on Monday overtook Brazil to register the highest number of Covid-19 recoveries in the world at 37,80,107, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
 
According to data, 19,625,959 people around the world have recovered from the coronavirus infection while the total number of Covid-19 cases across the world are 29,006,033 and the total number of deaths reported globally stands at 9,24,105.
 
Johns Hopkins University, which has been compiling Covid-19 data from all over the world, put India in the number one position in terms of the number of recovered coronavirus cases at 37,80,107, followed by Brazil at 37,23,206 cases and the US at 24,51,406 cases.

Covid recovery rate at 78%: Govt

The recovery rate in the country had touched 78 per cent, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
 
India's Covid-19 case tally has mounted to 4.85 million with 92,071 new infections, while 3.78 million people have recuperated. The death toll climbed to 79,722 with 1,136 more people succumbing to the infection, according to the ministry data.
 
India's journey of a fast-growing recovery rate has crossed a milestone on Monday. On a continuous upward trajectory, the recovery rate has touched 78 per cent, reflecting the increasing number of high recoveries per day, it said in a statement.

China launches new tech database to help communities fight Covid-19

The Chinese government is compiling a database of technologies that can be used to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Science and Technology said in a post on Monday.

According to the post, officials have compiled a list of more than 2,000 "new technologies" and their providers, ranging from automatic temperature detection to diagnosis and hospital information systems, the South China morning Post (SCMP) newspaper reported.

The Ministry has planned to proliferate technology-based applications among hospitals and communities, which have been on the frontlines of the outbreak, as well as to companies which are now coping with the aftermath of a nearly two month-long lockdown.

India has been able to limit Covid deaths to 55 per mn population: Vardhan

Owing to the nationwide efforts the Covid-19 related deaths have been limited to 55 per million population, said Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday.
 

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister also said that the cases per million population in the country have also been limited to 3,328 in the country.

For the first time, LS members sit in RS chamber as House meets amid Covid-19

In a first, some Lok Sabha members attended the House proceedings on Monday while seated in the Rajya Sabha chamber as Parliament met for the Monsoon session amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
 

Speaker Om Birla said in Lok Sabha that rules and procedures have been eased to allow Lok Sabha members sit in the upper house and Rajya Sabha members occupy seats in lower house due to social distancing norms.

Maharashtra: Thane Covid-19 tally crosses 146,000

The number of Covid-19 cases in Thane has gone up to 1,46,102 after detection of 1,930 new cases in the Maharashtra district, officials said on Monday.
 

Besides, the number of Covid-19 deaths in the district has risen to 3,921 as 28 more people succumbed to the disease on Sunday, they said.

Pakistan reports 539 new cases of coronavirus: Health Ministry

Pakistan has reported 539 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total infections in the country to 302,020, the health ministry said on Monday.
 

The Ministry of National Health Services said four more people succumbed to the viral disease and the toll currently stands at 6,383.

Kolkata metro resumes services after 5 months gap

Kolkata Metro resumed its services on Monday after a gap of five months due to COVID-19 pandemic.
 

The metro authorities have reopened the services amid stringent checks and protocols. A day prior to the reopening of services, the metro stations were fully sanitised.
 

Speaking to ANI, Dr Misbah-uL Haque, a commuter said, "We are happy that metro has started, as we were facing a lot of trouble in travelling. The arrangements here are very good and proper sanitisation is being undertaken."

Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 tally crosses 6,000-mark

The Covid-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh crossed the 6000-mark with 146 fresh cases reported in the northeastern state, a senior Health department official said on Monday.
 

With the fresh cases, the total virus count in the state rose to 6,121, the official said.
