Brazil's Coivd-19 weekly death toll rises to about 4,000 fatalities

The number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Brazil has surpassed 131,600 with about 4,000 deaths registered over the past week, according to the country's Health Ministry.
 
In the past 24 hours, Brazil confirmed 415 new deaths from COVID-19 and 14,768 new coronavirus cases, the health ministry said on Sunday. Brazil's total coronavirus death toll now stands at 131,625, while the country's total number of cases is 4,330,455.

J&J unit to start mid-stage coronavirus vaccine trials in Spain

Johnson & Johnson's Janssen unit will begin mid-stage trials of its COVID-19 vaccine in Spain on Monday, the programme's lead investigator said.
 
Alberto Borobia said 190 people would take part in the country's trials, which will take place in three hospitals and be concluded by Sept. 22.
 
The Spanish study is part of mid-stage, or Phase II, trials of the vaccine that are being carried out in three countries, also including the Netherlands and Germany. The trials in the three countries will last two months and include 550 participants in total.

The number of coronavirus cases confirmed across the world in the past 24 hours stands at a record high of nearly 308,000, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
 
According to the latest, Saturday, data from the WHO, there are now 28,637,952 coronavirus cases confirmed globally, with 307,900 new cases having been registered in the past 24 hours.

Madhya Pradesh coronavirus update reports 2,281 new Covid cases, 34 deaths

As many as 2,281 new Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths were reported in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, taking the state's coronavirus count to 88,247.
 
There are 20,487 active cases and 1,762 fatalities in the state.
 
"Madhya Pradesh reports 2,281 new Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths today. Total cases now at 88,247 including 1,762 deaths and 20,487 active cases," said the State Health Department.

Kerala coronavirus update: 17 new Covid-19 hotspots identified in the state

A total of 17 new places were identified as COVID-19 hotspots in Kerala on Sunday, taking the total number of hotspots in the state to 607, Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja informed.
 
As many as 13 places which were previously declared hotspots were excluded.
 
At present, there are 30,072 patients under treatment for COVID-19 in the state, while a total of 77,703 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 1,855 in the last 24 hours.

As many as 1,703 new Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths were reported in Rajasthan on Sunday, taking the state's coronavirus count to 1,02,408.
 
There are 84,518 cases which have recovered while 83,084 have been discharged.

Sikkim coronavirus update: Tally rises to 2,088, death toll goes up to 16

The COVID-19 tally in Sikkim rose to 2,088 with 31 more people testing positive for the virus while three fresh fatalities pushed the Himalayan state's death toll to 16 on Sunday, an official said.
 
Of the total 2,088 COVID-19 cases, 567 are active cases as 1,505 patients have recovered from the disease and 16 have died, the official said.
 
A 42-year-old woman from Development Area in the state capital died due to COVID-19 at STNM hospital, the State Information Education Communication (IEC) Member Sonam Bhutia said. Read on....
