Will intensify drive against violators of Covid-19 mask rule: Goa CM

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said the state will implement a drive to penalise persons who wander without masks in public places amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Sawant spoke to reporters after chairing a meeting of the state disaster management committee, which was also attended by state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and state chief secretary Parimal Rai amongst others.
 
The state will not go for a lockdown or night curfew, but would instead impose stricter guidelines to control spread of the virus, the chief minister.

Will strictly enforce night curfew in Delhi: Police

Police said on Tuesday that it would strictly enforce the night curfew order issued by the Delhi government due to the spiralling coronavirus cases and would issue movement passes on demand to those eligible.
 
The decision to impose night curfew 10 pm to 5 am was taken after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) reviewed the COVID-19 situation and it continue till April 30.
 
"Delhi Police will strictly enforce it except for the exempted categories mentioned in the order. All concerned should strictly observe the restrictions as given in the DDMA order," police public relations officersaid Chinmoy Biswal said.

MP govt will fix rates for pandemic treatment in hospitals: CM

Amid reports that private hospitals are overcharging Covid-19 patients, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said the state government will fix the rates of the treatment for patients.
 
Chauhan also said the number of beds in hospitals across the state is being increased continuously even as he observed that the count of cases is on the rise because of the increase in the cases in neighbouring Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.

HC seeks status report on Covid-19 in Telangana

The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to file a status report within 48 hours on various aspects with regard to the containment, vaccination and measures undertaken to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, as cases have seen a spike.
 
A bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijay Sen Reddy, hearing a batch of PILs on Covid-19 issues, sought details on the state's plan of action and steps to contain the spread of the disease such as testing, earmarking micro containment zones and vaccination, among others.
 
The court directed the Advocate General to file a report on the state's preparedness in view of the second wave of Covid-19 and file its report within two-days.

Maharashtra: Nashik records 4,638 new Covid-19 cases; 32 fatalities

With a single-day addition of 4,638 new cases of coronavirus, the tally of infections in Maharashtra's Nashik district reached 207,664 on Tuesday, an official said.
 
The district also recorded 32 casualties during the day that raised the toll to 2,529, the official said.
 
Of the fresh fatalities, 11 were reported from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) limits, 16 from other parts of the district, three from Malegaon and two were patients from outside the region who were taking treatment in the district, it was stated.

MP: Four Covid-19 patients flee hospital, case registered

Four patients have fled from the Covid-19 isolation ward of the Shivpuri district hospital here in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.
 
The four, including two women, sneaked out of the hospital separately on April 3 and April 4, Kotwali Police Station in-charge Badam Singh said.
 
They remained untraced.

Goa sees 387 new Covid-19 cases

Goa on Tuesday reported 387 fresh coronavirus positive cases, taking the tally to 59,702 while one death took the toll to 838, a health official said.
 
With 95 people getting discharged during the day, the overall count of recoveries in Goa mounted to 56,393, he said, adding the state is now left with 2,471 active cases.
 
With 2,809 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in Goa has gone up to 558,266, the official added.

Covid-19: Gujarat govt orders 300,000 Remdesivir injections

The Gujarat government has placed an order to procure 3 lakh Remdesivir injections for the treatment of critical Covid-19 patients in the state, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Tuesday.
 
Remdesivir is considered a key anti-viral drug in the fight against Covid-19, especially in adult patients with severe complications.
 
On the possibility of imposing a lockdown in the state as suggested by the Gujarat High Court on Tuesday, Rupani said an "appropriate decision" will be taken soon after consulting the government's core group.

Nagpur records over 3,000 new Covid-19 cases; 54 casualties

As many as 3,305 persons tested positive for coronavirus, while 54 died of the infection in Maharashtra's Nagpur district on Tuesday, an official said.
 
With this the tally of infections in the district has risen to 201,916 and the toll has reached 5,438, the official said.
 
At least 3,758 patients were discharged during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 248,883, he said.
