Mumbai shopkeepers protest Maharashtra govt's Covid-19 restrictions
Shopkeepers took to the streets in Mumbai to protest against the Maharashtra government's directive to keep establishments selling non-essential goods shut till April 30 to control the rise in Covid-19 cases.
As per the state government's fresh curbs, shops and establishments dealing in non-essential commodities and services will have to stay shut till the end of the month.

Covid-19: Nine-day lockdown begins in Durg district
A nine-day strict lockdown began on Tuesday in Chhattisgarhs Durg district to curb an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases.
The city wore a deserted look as all shops and commercial establishments, except medicine stores and other essential services outlets, were shut and police teams patrolled important squares to check unnecessary movement of people.
The district administration had announced to impose a lockdown four days back so that people could buy essential items before the restrictions came into force.

Pune traders, hoteliers oppose Maharashtra's Covid-19 guidelines
An apex body of traders in Pune on Tuesday opposed the Maharashtra government's directive to shut shops selling non-essential commodities and services till April 30, amid rise in Covid-19 cases.
The Federation of Trade Association Pune (FTAP) said it will write to the Prime Minister, chief minister and other authorities to register its protest against the decision.
"There is discontent among traders over the decision of shutting all shops except those selling essential commodities in the city. If you see, the shops selling essential commodities draw large crowds and others have no rush," said Fatechand Ranka, the president of FTAP.

Maharashtra govt cheated people with strict lockdown: BJP
The BJP on Tuesday alleged the Maharashtra government "cheated" people by imposing a "strict lockdown" in the state and demanded a financial package for various sections of the society.
Addressing the party workers on the occasion of the BJP's foundation day, state unit president Chandrakant Patil said traders and common people will not tolerate such "cheating" by those in power.
Alarmed by the huge rise in cases over the last few days, the state government on Sunday announced a weekend lockdown and night curfew during the weekdays from Monday to April 30, in addition to a slew of other restrictions like the closure of private offices, theatres and salons.
