Shortage of needles, Covid vaccination in Kochi stops

The vaccination drive by the Kochi corporation suffered a setback after a shortage of needles took place on Monday, IANS reported.

On one hand, the state is leading in the daily number of Covid positive cases and also the highest daily number of active cases, Covid vaccination drive was affected at the Kochi Corporation when the shortage of needles happened leading to cancellation of the vaccination camps.

As the vaccination stopped, the Congress protested accusing the state of inefficiency.

Six new cases in Ladakh

Ladakh recorded six new COVID-19 cases that pushed the infection tally to 20,451, officials said on Monday, PTI reported.

Four people -- two each in Leh and Kargil -- were discharged from hospitals, taking the overall recoveries to 20,162, they said.

All the six new cases were reported from Leh, officials said.

Union Health Minister Mandaviya arrives in Kerala to review Covid situation

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday arrived at Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram to review the situation of COVID-19 in the state, ANI reported.

Mandaviya will take stock of the state's medical facilities and management.

"Minister @MansukhMandviya ji has reached Kerala wherein he was formally received at the Trivandrum domestic airport. He will now proceed to his various engagements to examine the State's efforts for the management of #COVID19," Office of Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted.

Odisha records 868 new Covid-19 cases, 66 more fatalities

Odisha on Monday registered 868 new COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 9,95,433, while 66 fresh fatalities pushed the toll to 6,953, a health department official said, PTI reported.

Of the 868 new cases, 104 are children in the age group of 0-18 years, he said.

Schools reopen in Andhra Pradesh from today with Covid guidelines

Schools in Andhra Pradesh reopen for the current academic year on Monday following all the COVID-19 guidelines, ANI reported.

Every year usually schools open on June 12, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is delayed this year. Though online classes were started, regular classes are being started from today. The schools are can schedule the classes according to the COVID restrictions.

Study reveals Covid vaccines reduce infection, mortality risk in organ transplant patients

According to a new research, vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 substantially lowers the risks of breakthrough infections and death due to COVID-19 in adult organ transplant recipients, ANI reported.

The findings of the study were published in the journal 'Transplantation', the official Journal of The Transplantation Society and the International Liver Transplantation Society. The journal is published in the Lippincott portfolio by Wolters Kluwer.

Maharashtra coronavirus update: 213 new Covid-19 cases in Thane

Thane has added 213 new cases of coronavirus, raising the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 5,48,308, an official said on Monday.
 
These new cases were reported on Sunday, he said.
 
The virus also claimed the lives of five more people, which took the death toll in the district to 11,184.
 
The Covid-19 mortality rate in Thane stood at 2.03 per cent, the official said.

Puducherry coronavirus update: Fresh cases fall below 50

The union territory of Puducherry reported less than 50 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours as the overall tally went up to 1,22,331, a senior official of the Health Department said on Monday.
 
Puducherry and its outlying regions reported 49 new cases in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM on Monday at the end of the examination of 3,142 samples, Director of Health G Sriramulu said.
 
The union territory had logged 79 new cases on Sunday.
 
While Puducherry accounted for 31 of the 49 fresh infections, Karaikal registered 13 and Mahe 5. Yanam did not report any new cases, the Director said.

Arunachal Pradesh reports 48 new Covid-19 cases

Arunachal Pradesh reported 48 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 51,348, a senior health department official said here on Monday.
 
The Covid-19 death toll in the frontier state remained at 252 as no new fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
 
The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 30, followed by Papumpare (6), two each from Tawang and West Kameng and one each from West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Subansiri, Lower Siang, Lohit, Leparada, Changlang and Dibang Valley district respectively, the official said.
