Covid-19: Vaccinate youth, students, Goa NSUI tells Centre
The Goa unit of the Congress' National Students Union of India on Friday demanded that the Centre remove age restrictions in place for the vaccination drive against Covid-19 so that the youth and students could also be inoculated.

0.46% Covid-19 patients on ventilators, 2.31% in ICU: Harsh Vardhan
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday informed that 0.46 per cent of active Covid-19 patients are on ventilators and 2.31 per cent are in ICU.
"Right now 0.46 per cent of the active critical patients are on ventilators, 2.31 per cent are in the ICU, and 4.51 per cent are on oxygen-supported beds," Harsh Vardhan said while speaking at the 24th meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on Covid-19. Read here

India administers over 94.3 million vaccine doses
The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India crossed 9.43 crore on Friday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The Ministry said that as per the provisional report till 7 am, India administered cumulatively, 9,43,34,262 vaccine doses through 14,28,500 sessions.
"These include 89,74,511 health care workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 54,49,151 HCWs who have taken the second dose, 98,10,164 front line frontline workers FLWs (first dose), 45,43,954 FLWs (second dose), 3,75,68,033 first dose beneficiaries and 13,61,367 sencond dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 2,61,03,814 (first dose) and 5,23,268 (second dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60," MoHFW said. Japan to impose emergency measure in Tokyo
Japan is set to extend a semi-state of emergency over the Covid-19 pandemic to Tokyo and two other prefectures due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the government said on Friday.
Tokyo, which will host the Olympic Games in less than four months, confirmed more than 500 new infections on Thursday for the second straight day, reports dpa news agency.
Japan adopted the measure in Osaka, Miyagi and Hyogo prefectures earlier this week.
It is expected to come into effect in Tokyo, Kyoto and Okinawa on April 12. (IANS)

Ten states show steep rise in daily Covid-19 cases
Ten states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan have shown a steep rise in daily Covid-19 cases accounting for83.29 per centof the new infections, the Union Health Ministry said.
India's daily cases continue to rise, the ministry underlined.
A totalof 131,968 new cases were registered a day, the highestsingle-day rise recorded so far in the country.
Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 56,286. It is followed by Chhattisgarh with 10,652 while Uttar Pradesh reported 8,474 new cases. (PTI)

Delhi's Rajiv Gandhi hospital suspends non-Covid services
Delhi government-run Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGGSH) has been again converted into a dedicated Covid-19 facility amid a massive surge in coronavirus cases in the national capital, officials said on Friday.
All non-COVID services have been suspended till further orders, they said.
RGSSH is a 650-bed facility in east Delhi and had played a critical role in combatting the pandemic in the city last year, when the national capital had witnessed its three waves of the spread of the virus, the last one being in November. (PTI)
