Covid-19: Mini-lockdown, night curfews casts cloud over MFI collections

States have once again begun imposing restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus. For instance, Maharashtra, which is seeing the maximum number of cases, has announced the most stringent one -- a mini-lockdown through April 30. Many other states have also announced night curfews and weekend lockdowns.
 
Maharashtra is also among the top five states in terms of microfinance loans, with assets under management (MFI AUM) of Rs 16,700 crore as on December 2020, tantamount to 7 per cent of all microfinance loans. Night curfew imposed in 9 cities of Rajasthan till April 30

To prevent the surge in Covid-19 cases, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has imposed night curfew in nine cities of Rajasthan with effect from Saturday till April 30. As per an order by the Rajasthan government, it said, "Night curfew imposed in 9 cities-Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Abu Road starting from 8 pm to 6 am, till April 30." "In Udaipur, the night curfew will start from 6 pm to 6 am", the order informed. Faced with a surge in Covid-19 cases, Jodhpur Police Commissioner, J Mohan on April 7 said that challans will be sent to the homes of those who flout Covid-19 norms.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat tests COVID-19 positive, hospitalised

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has tested coronavirus positive and has been admitted to a private hospital in Nagpur, sources said on Saturday.
 
Bhagwat was admitted to the Covid-19 ward on Friday, hospital sources said. He is stable and under observation, they added.An RSS functionary also confirmed that Bhagwat has tested positive for the viral infection.

 Uttarakhand Cabinet has decided to impose night curfew in Dehradun municipal limits between 10 pm to 5 am in view of rising coronavirus cases, reports news agency ANI quoting a state government spokesperson on Friday. “Night curfew will be implemented from tomorrow following the cabinet order,” said Dehradun DM Dr Ashish Srivastava.

Italy assistant coach De Rossi hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19

Days after contracting coronavirus, Italy assistant coach Daniele De Rossi has been hospitalised due to pneumonia symptoms.
 
At least eight players and four members of the background staff have been diagnosed with coronavirus since returning from the latest round of international matches, Goal.com reported.
 
De Rossi was appointed as assistant to coach Roberto Mancini last month. He has been in hospital since Thursday.
 
The assistant coach tested positive for COVID-19 on March 31, the night of Italy's match against Lithuania, along with three other members of the group.

TTE succumbs to coronavirus in Patna, railway staff in panic

Death of a Patna railway station Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) due to coronavirus has spread panic amid the other railway staff in all the stations of the district especially at Patna Junction, Danapur, Patliputra and Rajendra Nagar Terminal.
 
The deceased, Samit Kumar Chandravansi, tested positive a few days ago and underwent treatment in railway hospital Karbigahiya in Patna.
 
Earlier, three more railway employees including chief booking observer Subhash Singh, reservation observer R S Pandey and 17 passengers travelling in Kurla-Patna express also tested positive for coronavirus. The railway officials are admitted in the railway hospital.
 
Keeping in view of the massive re-migration of labourers from Maharashtra, East Central Railway has been running four pairs of special trains apart from regular express trains from Lokmanya Tilak terminal, Chatrapati Shivaji Terminal and Pune to Danapur, Patliputra and Darbhanga.
