Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora was hospitalised on Sunday after testing positive for Covid-19.
 

"I have tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. I request all those who have come in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest," he tweeted.

58 new Covid-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh

Fifty-eight more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh, pushing the infection count to 17,08,772 in the state on Sunday, according to an official statement.
 

The death toll remained unchanged at 22,773 with no fresh fatality linked to the disease being reported in the last 24 hours, the the UP government said in the statement.

Amid Covid-19 concerns, 2021 Emmy Awards will have limited red carpet

The red carpet at the 2021 Emmy Awards is going to look different amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to People magazine, the Television Academy, on Friday, announced in a press release that this year's ceremony will limit the number of those allowed on the red carpet when the event airs next month on September 19.

On-site media, crew, and vendors will be required to show proof of vaccination to be admitted, and they must also test negative for the coronavirus.

Delhi recorded 1,858 black fungus cases so far; 686 active as on Aug 5: Health dept

The national capital has so far recorded 1,858 mucormycosis (black fungus) cases, 686 of which were active as on August 5, the Delhi health department said on Sunday.

It said in a statement that the city has been allocated a total of 51,540 vials of Amphotericin-B for the treatment of the disease, out of which 42,960 vials "have been received and distributed to hospitals, and 8,080 vials are awaited".

Russia records 22,866 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours

Russia registered 22,866 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, up from 22,320 the day before, taking the overall tally to 6,447,750, the federal response center said on Sunday.

"Over the past day, 22,866 COVID-19 cases were confirmed across 85 Russian regions, including 1,953 cases (8.5%) without clinical symptoms," the center said, adding that the rate of increase stands at 0.36%.

Philippines logs 9,671 new Covid-19 cases, death toll crosses 29,000

The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,671 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 1,658,916.

The death toll climbed to 29,122 after 287 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH added.

Noolpuzha in Wayanad district has become the first tribal panchayat in the state to achieve completevaccination, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Sunday.

The Chinese mainland has reported 81 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 38 were reported in Jiangsu, 24 in Henan, seven in Yunnan, six each in Hubei and Hunan, according to the commission.

Kerala to conduct mass vaccination drive from August 9 to 31

Kerala Health department is preparing for a mass Covid vaccination drive from August 9 to 31 bringing postgraduate students, lower primary and upper primary school teachers, and final-year degree students under its ambit.
 

The decision, according to the state Health department officials, is a prelude to the opening of educational institutions. This decision comes after an expert committee recommended the Kerala government to take steps for reopening of schools.
