Puducherry adds 79 new Covid-19 cases

The union territory of Puducherry logged 79 fresh coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to 1,21,602, a senior official of the Department of Health said on Sunday.

The new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 5,490 samples, Director of Health Department G Sriramulu said.

Pakistan reports 4,455 new Covid-19 cases

Pakistan has reported 4,455 new coronavirus cases on Sunday taking the number of active cases to 82,076 in the country.

As the cases are on the surge in the country, National Command and Operation Center said that Pakistan has a coronavirus positivity rate of 8.09 per cent. So far, the country has reported 10,67,580 COVID-19 cases and 23,865 deaths.

Odisha reports 69 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,243 fresh cases

Odisha's COVID-19 death count shot up to 6,435 on Sunday after 69 more patients succumbed to the virus, while 1,243 fresh cases raised the tally to 9,87,070, a health department official said.

The coastal state now has 12,129 active cases and 9,68,453 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 1,525 since Saturday, he said.

Will take another year to vaccinate all adults at current rate of vaccine supply: Delhi health dept

It will take another year to vaccinate all eligible beneficiaries aged above 18 in the national capital at "the present rate of COVID-19 vaccine supply," the health department has told the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

At a DDMA meeting held on Friday, officials of the department gave a presentation on the city government's preparedness for a possible third wave of coronavirus and the status of COVID-19 vaccination.

Covishield, Covaxin combination brings better immunogenicity than 2 doses of same vaccine: Study

A study by ICMR involving 98 people, 18 of whom had inadvertently received Covishield as first dose and Covaxin as the second in Uttar Pradesh, showed that combining these two COVID-19 vaccines elicited better immunogenicity than two doses of the same vaccine.
 

 

The study also found that immunisation with combination of Covishield and Covaxin was safe and the adverse effects were also found to be similar when compared to the same dose regimen.

Arunachal logs 248 new cases

Arunachal Pradesh recorded 248 new cases of Covid-19 tally to take its total to 49,916, PTI reported on Sunday. Three new fatalities pushed the death toll to 240, a civil servant told the news agency.

Actors Mammootty, Pisharody accused of flouting safety rules in Kerala

The police in Kerala have registered a case against actors Mammootty, Ramesh Pisharody and 300 others for allegedly violating Covid-19 safety rules at a hospital near Kozhikode.
