Coronavirus LIVE Updates: Bengal reports 18,213 new Covid-19 cases

West Bengal reported 18,213 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday, 2,792 more than the previous day, raising the tally to 17,11,957, a bulletin released by the health department said. The death toll mounted to 19,864 with 18 more fatalities, it said. The state now has 51,384 active cases, while 7,912 patients have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. Since Thursday, 69,158 samples were tested in West Bengal.

Turkey registers 63,214 new Covid-19 cases

Turkey has reported 63,214 new Covid-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 9,850,488, according to its health ministry.

 

The death toll from the virus in Turkey on Friday rose by 157 to 83,388, while 29,197 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

 

A total of 406,796 tests were conducted over the past day, it said.

 

Turkey has started mass Covid-19 vaccination on January 14, 2021.

Hit by Covid-19 pandemic, DMRC finds it hard to pay R-Infra dues

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it harder for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to make good on the claims raised by Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure (R-Infra).

 

According to an email response to Business Standard, DMRC had incurred an operational loss of Rs 1,761.23 crore during the financial year 2020-21.

 

While DMRC has regularly been reporting a net loss after clearing the depreciation & amortisation expenses and finance costs, this is the first operational loss reported by DMRC in the last five years. Read on...
